Annual Ministry Appeal 2020 Heavenly Sounds
The objective of our parish campaign this year is to enhance the sound and musical experience in our Basilica and to repair our Casavant Organ.
Dear Friend of Carmel Mission,
My name is Paul Hoffman and I am a fellow parishioner and member of the Finance Council here at Carmel Mission Basilica.

I hope this message finds you all healthy and safe.
I am writing you to update you on the status of our Heavenly Sounds Campaign. After 34 years and over 10,000 performances our beautiful Casavant organ is in need of serious repair as is the sound system both inside and outside the Basilica. For that reason, we created the Heavenly Sounds Campaign back in February to raise $150,000.
In March, before the Corona Virus shut down, we were well on our way toward achieving that goal, as your generosity donated over $113,000. Based on that, we made the decision that with the closure of the Basilica, it is a perfect time to get started on this project. So, we engaged the makers of our organ, Casavant Frères, in Quebec, Canada to repair the internal mechanics of the organ.
Since we have been celebrating mass in the courtyard, we also took the opportunity to upgrade our sound system, which many of you have already experienced. This will help us make much better use of the courtyard for many functions, in addition to masses in the future.
We have streamed Mass each weekend throughout this pandemic. We hope to continue to live-stream Mass each weekend into the future to serve those who may not be able to join us in person. We hope to equip the Basilica with video cameras through our campaign to continue this vital way of keeping our community together.We’ve gone ahead and taken these actions NOW – even before we’ve hit our goal, for two reasons:
1) Because it was the right time with the Basilica closed and
2) Because of our confidence in your continued generosity over the past years.
We are still $37,000 short of our goal. I am asking each of you to help us make up this shortfall so we will have the funds necessary to complete this project and enjoy the heavenly sounds from our Basilica and grounds for years to come.

2019 AMA: Renew a Pew
Our successful Renew a Pew Campaign had more donors and raised a larger amount than any other parish in our Diocese.
All pews were fully restored and enhanced with seat cushions, which will provide comfort to future generations.
2018 AMA: Crespi Hall Renovation
The Crespi Hall campaign transformed our parish hall into a warm and inviting meeting space for our parish community and ministries.
The fully remodeled kitchen, bathroom, and storage areas, along with the addition of a small conference room and new audio visual system have made Crespi the center of hospitality at the Mission.
