Dear Friend of Carmel Mission,
Last Sunday we had a very successful launch of our 2021 AMA campaign, Recovery and Renewal. It was our first Sunday to return to worship inside the Basilica in some time, and we had record numbers of people at both our indoor and outdoor Masses. Paul Hoffman, a member of our parish finance council and the chairman of our AMA campaign again this year, spoke at our Masses and has also recorded a video message that you can view by clicking here.
Hopefully you received in the mail this week, or will shortly, a letter from me explaining the goals of this year’s campaign, and it’s special significance as we recover from the impacts of the ongoing pandemic, as well as celebrate our 250th anniversary. Our aim is ambitious but your remarkably generous response to our past campaigns to renovate Crespi Hall, to Renew the Pews and last year’s Heavenly Sounds, gives me confidence that we will meet the goal of $250,000 in our 250th year.
The community of Carmel Mission has proven to not only be generous, but also determined, flexible and creative throughout the difficult time of the pandemic. I feel all of these characteristics have been present in our community in the past 250 years, and have allowed us to accomplish great things in service to God and God’s people. Our 2021 Recovery and Renewal campaign will help us continue this good work into the future. In the coming weeks we will be featuring specific aspects and goals for the campaign, as well as update you on our progress, so please stay tuned.
I thank you for your great generosity and selfless stewardship.
