Pastor’s Weekly Message 1-12-20

Dear Friends of Carmel Mission,

This weekend we celebrate the Baptism of the Lord. At our liturgies at our Mission, we will commence with the Rite of Sprinkling to remind us of our own Baptism.

Baptism is the first of what we refer to as the three Sacraments of Initiation. The other two are Confirmation and Eucharist.

These three Sacraments bring us deep into the heart of our Catholic faith. Each year we welcome new members into our Mission community. Many of them come from other faith backgrounds and some are embracing faith in God for the first time.

God is calling them by name to become full members of His family.

The main process or path of entry into our Catholic Faith is called the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (R.C.I.A.).

During the coming weeks our brothers and sisters who have engaged in this process, will be joining us for the Liturgy of the Word, the first part of our Eucharistic celebration.

We can welcome them and make them feel at home. Above all, we can accompany them on their journey of faith, through our prayers and through the good example of our life.

Let us remember and celebrate our own Baptism into the saving Death and Resurrection of Christ this weekend.

Blessings,
Fr. Paul
