Founded in 1771, Carmel Mission Basilica weaves centuries-old architecture, inspiring art, and living faith into a singular experience. Parties of 10 or more are invited to explore serene courtyards, the iconic Basilica, and museums filled with fascinating artifacts of early Mission life—creating shared moments your group will cherish long after the visit ends.
The Mission is still a vibrant place of worship. Weddings, liturgies, and special events sometimes limit access to the Basilica itself. Please contact our Museum Store at (831) 624-1271 × 210 in advance for the latest schedule of events on the day of your planned visit.
We ask guests to consider and be respectful of the prayerful environment.
If your class or club numbers ten or more, please confirm your visit at least two weeks in advance so we can add you to our schedule. This helps us ensure adequate staffing, smooth entry, and (when available) connect you with a volunteer docent.
A majority of our visitors take a self-guided tour of Carmel Mission. Please reference our brief history of Carmel Mission and Carmel Mission Map Guide documents to assist you with planning your trip and for a self-guided tour while at Carmel Mission.
Payment is normally collected on the day of your visit. If your school requires advance payment, simply let us know. We can provide a secure credit-card link or arrange for you to bring a check when you arrive.
Mission Grounds close 15 minutes prior to store close.
*Admission rates subject to change without advance notice.
PLEASE READ: Your tour booking is only complete once you have received confirmation from Carmel Mission.
