Pastor’s Weekly Message 10-13-19

Dear Friends of Carmel Mission,

Gratitude is sometimes unexpressed or taken for granted. In our Gospel this weekend we hear about Jesus healing ten people of leprosy, and how only one of the ten returned to thank Jesus. Is there someone in your life to whom you seldom, if ever, express your thanks? Why not do it this weekend?

My sincere gratitude goes out to all of you who attended our Parish Fiesta last weekend, and to all our Parish staff and School staff and parents who worked so hard to make it such an enjoyable festive occasion.

I really appreciate all the hard work that went into making it one of the most successful Fiestas in recent years. There are so many people to thank that were I to list them, I would require some extra pages in our Bulletin.

There is one person that I really need to thank by name, and that person is our new Fiesta Coordinator, Tracy Henderson. Tracy has much experience as an event organizer and so I was delighted to hear that she was willing to step up to the plate and offer her service to our parish and school. I was subsequently bowled over by her energy and enthusiasm, her positive attitude and attention to detail, her resilience and resourcefulness, her ability to bring out the best In people, her readiness to see any adversity as a challenge to successfully overcome, her tried and tested leadership skills, her infectious good humor, her willingness to lead by example and with such serene grace . . . I could go on and on, extolling her virtues, but I think you get the message that I was most impressed. If this was her first year as Fiesta Coordinator, just think of what’s already in her mind for next year! (I’m guessing that she must have some special people at home who encourage her).

My sincere thanks to all of you who worked so hard to make it such a successful Fiesta. It is but one more example of how our beautiful Mission parish and school continues to move . . .

Always Forward, never back!

Blessings,
Fr. Paul
