Dear Friend of Carmel Mission,
Today’s psalm encourages us to turn to God in our time of need. “I turn to you, Lord, in time of trouble and you fill me with the joy of salvation.” We can mark our most intimate relationships by who we turn to first in difficult times. At first it is usually our parents and our family members and we later include our dear friends and our closest work colleagues. God wants to be first and foremost on the list of who to call on in any difficulty. God is ready to be by our side, walking with us through life’s harder journeys, and leading us always towards joy.
Just as we know who we are likely to turn to in time of trouble, we are, no doubt, filling that role for some of our loved ones. It is a great honor and responsibility to take that place in someone’s life, even if it is challenging. It is an opportunity to express our love and support for one another in tangible way. If we are fortunate enough to have this opportunity, when the hurdle has been cleared and the difficult time has passed, it is wonderful to share again in our loved one’s joy.
This weekend we launch our 2021 AMA Campaign, RECOVERY and RENEWAL. You can read more about the campaign here, and you should be receiving a mailing as well this week. As the title implies, the campaign focuses on how the Mission can emerge from the very difficult time that we have all been experiencing, the COVID-19 pandemic -stronger than ever and better able to serve our community. We have been so fortunate that in our time of trouble we have been able to turn to you. With the great blessing of your generosity and selfless stewardship we will continue to be a place that shares God’s great compassion, mercy and tender support for generations to come. I thank you sincerely for your support of this crucial campaign.
