Dear Friends of Carmel Mission,
This weekend we are honored to have Bishop Danny celebrate our 11:00am mass, during which we will have the Sacrament of the Anointing of Sick.
I thank the Knights and Dames of the Order of Malta for assisting us in organizing this annual mass for World Day of the sick.
We are all in need of healing. Jesus is the One who heals us through the power of the Holy Spirit.
He seeks our help in continuing His ongoing mission to bring healing to our world.
I’m sharing with you here a favorite poem of mine by Francis Stuart:
“The Love, The Loss, The Dream….”
I’ve never struck a bargain in my life,
Trafficking in the hardest currencies
I’ve mostly come away with tinsel trash
But once or twice I’ve gained realities:
The bread and wine, the love, the loss, the dream,
But only at the staggering market price.
And finally I prayed, not just as I was bid:
“Lord, make me clean,”
But: “Come and share with me my leper lair,
That’s if you dare,”
And so He did.
