Pastor’s Weekly Message 4-28-19

Dear Friends of Carmel Mission,

I hope that you had a happy and Holy Easter. We were surprised by the number of people attending the Easter liturgies. Considering last year’s attendance, we went ahead and purchased an additional 180 folding chairs for the Easter Sunday masses, and again we had people without a seat. I apologize if you were one of those left standing.

The sun shone brightly on Easter Sunday morning as we celebrated the Resurrection of the Son of God. As always at Carmel Mission, the music and singing was superb and greatly assisted us in raising our minds and hearts to God. Did you know that you can purchase a CD featuring our beautiful choir and organist at our Museum Store? I highly recommend it.

You may have noticed, or you will notice when you join us for mass this weekend, that we are missing some of our pews at the back of the Basilica. The pews have been moved to where they will be restored. In the meantime, we have filled in the space with our famous folding chairs. Unfortunately, these chairs do not come with kneelers. Please excuse our appearance and the shortage of kneelers.

During this Easter Season we are more aware of our personal call to share our light with others. We are asked to adopt an optimistic outlook on life. May we continue to move “Always Forward” with great hope in our hearts and more love in our lives.

Fr. Paul
