Wedding Day Coordinator

The rehearsal and the wedding day can be quite hectic. Our experienced wedding day coordinator is here to ensure everything runs smoothly, by:

  • Supervising the rehearsal with the priest
  • Opening the bride’s room
  • Coordinating the entrance rite
  • Ringing the Basilica bells at the end of the ceremony
  • Lending moral support to the wedding party

To ensure a smooth ceremony, kindly note:

The wedding party must not exceed eight bridal attendants and eight groomsmen, including the maid of honor and best man.

Any additional vendors you hire must be aware of and abide by our guidelines while on the Carmel Mission premises.

Photography

Photographers are asked to remain respectful—no walking around during the ceremony. Still photography and video are allowed, but no flash photography is allowed during the ceremony. Photographers must take all entrance procession shots from the middle section of the Basilica, NOT from the front of the main aisle!

Flowers

You are responsible for providing flowers for the ceremony, which should be arranged with any of our local florists. We recommend two arrangements on either side of the altar. Additional arrangements require approval. For safety reasons, we cannot allow aisle runners, the throwing of rice or birdseed, or lighted candles in the congregation. Please do not tape or nail any decorations to the pews. Clips from florists or simply tying them on with ribbons work well. We appreciate your cooperation in following these guidelines.

Bride’s Room

A bride’s room (Basilica weddings only) is available for approximately 45 minutes before each wedding. On your wedding day, the bride’s room can be accessed from:

  • 10:15–11 a.m. for the 11 a.m. wedding
  • 12:15–1 p.m. for the 1 p.m. wedding
  • 2:15–3 p.m. for the 3 p.m. wedding

We suggest having a trusted friend who is not in the bridal party take your personal belongings to your car immediately following the ceremony.

Stipends and Fees

There are required stipends and fees for weddings held at Carmel Mission. A reservation deposit must accompany your completed permission form within three weeks of placing your hold on a specific date. This fee secures your wedding date and time. Current pricing and availability will be provided after submitting your wedding inquiry form.

We eagerly anticipate celebrating with you on your special day! Our team will work diligently to ensure your wedding at Carmel Mission is a joyous occasion for you and your loved ones. We wish you all the best as you embark on this blessed new chapter together.
