Pastor’s Weekly Message 12-9-18

Dear Friends of Carmel Mission,

Our Advent theme this year is: Waiting for the Light. The season of Advent is a time of preparation, of expectation, of waiting in hope for the coming of Christ, our Savior. We prepare ourselves to celebrate the birth of Christ at Christmas. But we also prepare ourselves for His Second Coming at the end of time.

If He returns tomorrow, how prepared are we to welcome Him?

Each weekend at our Mass, we light a candle on our Advent Wreath. Many of you probably do the same thing in your home.

As more light is added, we are reminded that soon we will be bathed and glowing in the Light of the World, a Light that darkness can never overcome.

What about the darkness in our own life? What about the shadow side of ourselves? Hopefully,

we are taking some time to work on eradicating this darkness, so that this year, Advent will not be a time of passive waiting, but rather a time when we clear some of the clutter we choose to cling onto, clutter that can dim our vision and prevent us from seeing the light around us.

Are you someone who spreads the light of Christ and brightens up the lives of others?

Advent is the time God gives us to shine a brighter light. Let your light shine!

Please take a moment to read our weekly Parish Bulletin.
