Pastor’s Weekly Message 5-12-19

Dear Friend in Christ,

Many of you were able to join us this year for our wonderful Lenten Mission at the Mission, led by Fr Matthew Guckin.

As we continue our joyful celebration of the Easter season we are privileged to have another opportunity to hear Fr. Matt, this time discussing the life and mission of our resident saint, Junipero Serra! Fr. Matt will be guiding the evening with materials he has developed while here with us at Carmel Mission on his sabbatical.

In 1975, Pope Paul VI used the term “The New Evangelization.”  Pope John Paul II made it a “theme” of his own pontificate.  The New Evangelization is a call to all the baptized to reach out to Christians who have fallen away from the faith.

Please plan on joining us for a discussion on “St. Junipero & The New Evangelization” on Friday May 24 at 7pm in the Basilica.

A reception to thank Fr. Matt for all he has contributed to our parish life at Carmel Mission, and wish him farewell and safe travels as he heads home to Philadelphia, will follow in Crespi Hall.
