Pastor’s Weekly Message 12/31/17

Happy New Year!

Dear Friends in Christ,

I hope that you were able to join friends and family for some Christmas cheer.

If you were fortunate enough to have joined our community here at Carmel Mission, then you will have experienced joyful liturgies complete with marvelous Christmas hymns and Carols. There are few places of worship that offer the quality available at our beautiful Basilica.

My sincere thanks to all who made these wonderful Christmas celebrations possible.

I’ve never been a great believer in New Year resolutions, since in my case, practice never made perfect (because I seldom practiced for long!!)

As I said in my Christmas homily, this New Year I’ve decided to try again. Words are so important to us and they can be life-giving or death-dealing.
I’ve decided to pay more attention to the words I use, and to try to excise negative words and sentiments from my vocabulary.

If we all tried to improve our fluency in the language of God, which is the language of love, our world and our lives would surely benefit greatly.

I wish you blessings of good health and great happiness in 2018,

I am happy to share with you our weekly parish bulletin email.
