Dear Friends of Carmel Mission,
The front cover of our weekly Bulletin features a photograph of the next Bishop of the Diocese of Monterey, Bishop Daniel E. Garcia. He is currently an Auxiliary Bishop in the Diocese of Austin, Texas. We thank the Holy Father, Pope Francis, for appointing Bishop Daniel as our Shepherd, and also for not keeping us waiting for long.
Bishop Daniel’s Installation takes place on January 29th, 2019, at Madonna del Sasso ProCathedral in Salinas.
Let us keep him in our prayers.
Until the end of January, Bishop Gerald Wilkerson, our Apostolic Administrator, will continue to guide us as our Shepherd. Bishop Gerald was just getting to enjoy his retirement, when the Holy Father called him back into action as our leader and guide in the Diocese of Monterey. His role here with us has many of the characteristics of the role of John the Baptist, (although we pray that he keeps his head!) He has tried to make crooked paths straight and in a very short time, he has prepared the way for our next Bishop, Daniel Garcia.
Let us also keep Bishop Gerald in our prayers.
